‘My son has significant emotional issues as a result of being let down by his school.’

Yvonne has a young son who has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and anxiety.

She told the Royal Commission that most of her son’s anxiety is ‘caused by stress from the school not dealing with disability’. Over the last 12 months he has been ‘constantly removed’ from class. No adjustments have been made to accommodate his ADHD and his mental health plan has been ignored.

‘[The] school system needs major help to be made accountable for kids with disability. They are not including all children.’

Yvonne wants to see more funding in schools for educational assistants to support kids with ADHD.
