Today the Disability Royal Commission has published a research report titled Complaint mechanisms: Reporting pathways for violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation, prepared by researchers from the University of Sydney, the University of Melbourne and the University of Technology Sydney.

Starting on 24 October 2022 the Disability Royal Commission will hold its twenty-ninth public hearing in Melbourne to examine the experiences of violence against, abuse, neglect and exploitation of people with disability from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) communities. This includes people from the d/Deaf, Deafblind and hard of hearing community who identify as CaLD.

At its twenty-eighth public hearing, the Disability Royal Commission will hear evidence from people with disability who have experienced various forms of violence and abuse in public places, often at the hands of strangers.

On Thursday 6 October 2022 the Disability Royal Commission will hold the final day of its twenty-seventh Public hearing which addresses conditions in detention in the criminal justice system for people with disability.
