Legislation and Regulation in Australia: Children and young people with disability in primary and secondary education settings
This is a summary of a new report called ‘Final report on legislation and regulation in Australia: Children and young people with disability in primary and secondary settings’.
Lawyer, Mr Samuel J Murray, prepared the report for the Disability Royal Commission.
The report will assist the Royal Commission’s work as it examines violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of people with disability across all areas of life.
The report focuses on the education of students with disability in primary and secondary school settings, and looks at a number of aspects relating to their education.
The report considers federal Australian laws, regulations and policies about education.
It also covers state and territory laws, regulations and policies about education, and it reviews how far laws go on funding and anti-discrimination.
The report collects and presents the information. It does not look at home policies are implemented or how laws are complied with.
