Parker works for a disability service provider and supports a family member who lives with disability. He wants the Royal Commission to be aware of the substandard conditions in some group homes and day services for people with complex intellectual disability.
‘The houses are without adequate/working heating/cooling. They are also dark and damp environments. One of these houses does not have a running hot water supply.
‘There have been numerous staff and family complaints raised about the inadequate state of these houses – to no avail.’
Parker hopes for a future ‘where all vulnerable persons have the same rights and courtesies that our normative society hold’.
