The Disability Royal Commission thanks Dr Hannah McGlade for her contribution and service
The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability wishes to thank Dr Hannah McGlade for her contribution to the First Nations Peoples Strategic Advisory Group.
Dr McGlade, a Noongar woman from Western Australia, has decided to step down from her advisory role after she was appointed Executive Director of the National Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Legal Services (NATSILS).
Dr McGlade is a highly respected academic and lawyer, who has brought significant insights to discussions on human rights for First Nations people, in particular in the areas of justice and race discrimination.
She has a reputation as a fierce advocate for the rights of Aboriginal women and children in areas such as family violence, sexual assault and structural systemic discrimination more generally for First Nations people in Western Australia.
The Disability Royal Commission has benefitted enormously from Dr McGlade’s thirty years of knowledge and experiences in these and other areas.
